Docent led museum tours

Join us on the second Friday of every month at 10:30am
On this 45-minute tour, led by our Chief Docent, you will learn more about our permanent exhibits, the art of model railroading, and Southern California Railroad History. Meet at the entrance of the museum at 10am to join.

Docent led tours are included in museum admission and the Balboa Park Explorer pass. No RSVP required.
Private Docent Led tours
We are pleased to offer private tours of The San Diego Railroad Museum’s 27,000 square feet of trains, trestles, and tracks. Your group will learn more about our permanent exhibits, the art of model railroading, and Southern California Railroad History as well as have an opportunity for exclusive questions and answers sessions with docents and model train operators.
- Schedule tours 2 weeks in advance.
- Tours available 10:30am-3:00pm Tuesdays – Friday
- Expected duration is approximately one hour.
- Museum Admission not included in tour rates.
- No tours will be held on the First Tuesday of the Month.
Group Tour Flat Rates:
- Groups up to 15 people $50.00, plus cost of individual admission
- Groups 16-20 people $75.00, plus cost of individual admission
Credit Card info will be taken for payment over the phone at the time of scheduling.

School Tour Rates:
- 1 class up to 30 (including chaperones) $3 per person, plus cost of individual admission
